I wanted to provide everyone with an update on the opening date for the golf course. The current weather forecast does not look good for the next two weeks which will delay getting the course ready for opening. With that stated, we should know this week if the Alberta Government will follow what other provinces have done and label golf courses as non-essential businesses and order them to close until further notice.
An action plan has been drafted and will be implemented in the event we are able to open the course. This plan will adhere to social distancing and sanitation rules. Our primary objective is to ensure that we are doing everything within our power to protect our members and guests, which also provides safety to our community.
I know it is difficult for all of us golfers to watch the weather get better which brings excitement for the upcoming golf season. However, we must all be patient and ensure each and every one of us is taking every reasonable step to slow the progression of COVID-19. The sooner the infection rate curve flattens, and the disease progression is slowed, the sooner we all can get back to life with some normalcy.
I will endeavor to keep everyone updated with the projected opening date but until then, the golf course remains closed to ALL golfers, no exceptions. Many individuals are walking around the course which is fine so long as social distancing is maintained.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. Please be safe and we look forward to seeing everyone playing golf in the near future. Todd Read BSc. BSc. MBA General Manager Riverview Golf Club
